MySpace

I have created an account with MySpace as part of Blue 2.0 training. The URL is

myspace.com/clp818

MySpace is similar to Facebook in that there is a connection with friends. I am still learning how to navigate MySpace. Check out my page.

Facebook

I have set up my Facebook account for the Blue 2.0 training. So far, it has been very interesting to see who knows me. Facebook could easily be adapted for professional use among library staff. It could replace email. Below is the link to my profile:

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?ref=nur

I hope that link works. Cheri Daniels sent me a cupcake. Those are the best kind-no calories!
Learning Facebook has been fun.

Flickr

I am running slightly behind on my Blue 2.0 assignment for these two weeks. I have created an account with Flickr. That was easy because I already have an account with Yahoo! All of the pictures I have taken with my digital camera are on my computer at home. So, it is time to take some fun work home with me. So, stay tuned for a picture to appear.

Photo Spread Effect Generator

I have been playing with the Photo Spread Effect Generator. I used the picture of Scratch sledding in front of Young Library one snowy day.

Then changed it to this using the Photo Spread Effect Generator.

Pretty neat! huh!

I enjoyed the time spent in the site Del.icio.us this morning. It is interesting to see what other people are bookmarking from the web. It is amazing, and somewhat overwhelming, how much information is on the web. It is probably more information than the human brain can hold. Del.icio.us will be useful for librarians as they organize database sites, search engines, and general information.

Social Bookmarking

This morning I created my account in the Del.icio.us site for the Blue 2.0 training. I found this to be a very interesting site. This site would be very useful for libraries and librarians as links to important databases could be placed on it as a bookmark. The link to my bookmarks is:

Wikis

This morning I created a Wiki. The link to it is:

http://storagenotes.pbwiki.com/

I do not agree with the statement that "Wikis are as easy to create as a peanut butter sandwich". Even peanut butter sandwiches can be sticky at times. Creating the wiki was not very easy. At times, I felt like I was stuck in a loop.
However, I believe Wikis would be useful for project management in libraries as others could add to the post.

RSS Feeds and Bloglines

This morning I created the Bloglines account for our next assignment in Blue 2.0. I have added several feeds to it already. My favorites are the weather forecast, the simply recipes and CMT.com news (Country Music News). If it were not for this training, I would have never known this type of thing existed. Bloglines makes frequently used websites with RSS feeds very easy for visiting. Onward to Wikis!

Noel Sings the UK Fight Song

The little girl in this video is Noel Cody. She is 4 years old and granddaughter of the minister of music at church. Noel knows every word to the UK Fight Song. Enjoy watching!

Because I do not know yet how to add a video to my blog. Here is the URL for watching:

Cartoons

Does anyone like cartoons? A little bit of humor gets rid of stress. Below are some humorous websites:

www.snoopy.com (for Charlie Brown and Snoopy fans like me)

Have a good laugh today!

AIM

Well, trying to set up my AIM account was not so much fun as the blog. I had a problem accessing the AIM Express. But, finally managed to get in to the Buddy List.
Practice makes perfect. Obviously, I need more practice with the AIM.

I am new to blogging as are other people doing this training. But, so far it has been very easy.

Go Wildcats!

Monday, January 14, 2008

I just finished creating my blog for the Blue 2.0 training. This is fun! The blog was not difficult to create. It was hard thinking of a name for my blog. This may be a good way to keep Mary McLaren abreast of activities here in Storage. Blogging could be very useful. Even the weathermen from WKYT-TV have blogs.
